I was invited to a special complimentary chef’s tasting experience at Atlanta’s Eight Sushi Lounge last Sunday. Being a huge sushi lover, I was beyond excited to check out the new restaurant!

Eight Sushi Lounge just had it’s grand opening last week. Taking a contemporary approach on traditional Japanese dishes for a unique and authentic experience, Executive Chef Handy Ho challenges preconceived notions and expectations of typical sushi and Japanese restaurants.

“We wanted to open a sushi restaurant that challenged the role of traditional sushi experiences in Atlanta,” explained Windy Ho, Director of Operations and Sake Master Certified. “To experience Eight Sushi Lounge is to alter your view of Japanese food. We are creating an evolution in sushi!”

So how was my sushi experience? Needless to say, I was in heaven. Take a look below…

It’s hard for me to pick a favorite out of everything we ate, which as you can see was pretty extensive. Everything was fresh and delicious. If I had to pick a few though that I absolutely loved the most, it would be the Shrimp Saku-Saku, the Tuna Crisp, the Shinobi Roll, the Dynasty Roll, and the Sashimi Platter. Jason was absolutely in love with the Miso Steak, which I tasted and loved (even though I don’t normally eat steak)!

“Great ingredients are the foundation to great sushi,” Executive Chef Handy Ho revealed. “I believe that cut, taste and presentation are integral to flavor. Atlanta is certainly ready to experience something new in a relatively unexplored cuisine.”

I couldn’t agree with Executive Chef Ho’s statement more. All of the food that we tasted engaged all of our senses. And that doesn’t even begin to mention the amazing drinks we had.

There is an extensive cocktail, beer, wine, and sake list, the bar menu boasts items like Japanese whiskey, over 20 different kinds of premium sake, and Japanese inspired cocktails and infusions. (And coming next February – they will offer their own Japanese-brewed Eight Sake)

A huge thank you to Eight Sushi Lounge for having us out to experience the menu, the amazing atmosphere, and the delightful service – especially our amazing waitress Aminda!
